BBC Breakfast hosts have left fans shocked after they revealed they won't be back on screens for weeks.

The journalist's have surprised viewers by announcing their absence from screens for several weeks.

Popular broadcaster Luxmy Gopal, 31, hosts the BBC show alongside regular weekend anchor Ben Boulos, 39.

Taking to X/Twitter Luxmy penned: "Good morning from the Christmassy BBC Breakfast studio. It's the last time Ben M Boulos and I are on the sofa before 2023 - thanks for your company this year and this morning!"

She then added: "Well done to those of you who've noticed the*deliberate* mistake! That should say 2024! Just checking you were paying attention - it's not that I'm a year behind..."

Fans were left shocked that the BBC presenter's will be taking a break off screen during the festive season.

One wrote: "You and Ben are the dynamic Sunday morning sublime breakfast double-act. Digesting the news and brekkie is a cinch with you both & the Christmassy ambience of the studio adds to it. Your avid viewers are looking forward to your reunion in 2024."
