LOTTERY officials are urging players to check their tickets again before the deadline to get their winnings runs out.

That's because over $5,825,000 across ten draws remains unclaimed - and the money won't be around for much longer.

The Illinois Lottery is hoping several lucky winners come forward before it is too late.

That's because the state lottery is currently hanging on to over $5.8 million in unclaimed prize funds.

A total of ten jackpots are yet to be matched with their lucky winners.

The games that created winners in recent months include Powerball, Mega Millions, and A Lucky Day Lotto.

The largest unclaimed prize is a $2 million Mega Millions prize for the draw held on December 16.

One lucky player bought their ticket a Lenny's Gas N Wash in Sherwood.

There's also a $1.2 million jackpot waiting to be claimed following the Lucky Day Lotto draw held on October 27.

The winning ticket was bought at Jewel food store in Chicago.

While the eight other remaining prizes won't make any new millionaires in the Prairie State, they still represent a substantial windfall.

They include an $800,000 Lucky Day Lotto jackpot for the draw held November 8 and a $450,000 prize for the Lucky Day Lotto draw on June 26.

Under Illinois Lottery rules, winners have exactly one year from the draw date to claim their prizes.

But Illinois is not the only state bursting with lottery riches.

In Washington, there are 19 unclaimed prizes worth a total of $2.6 million.

The most valuable of all is a $1 million Powerball prize.

And in Louisiana, there are four Powerball prizes worth $250,000.
