Tragic news out of the world of American Idol today:
Paula Goodspeed, a contestant who auditioned for season five of the show, reportedly killed herself outside of Paula Abdul’s house last night.
According to People Magazine, a car registered to Goodspeed was found parked outside the judge’s Sherman Oaks, California residence.
“This has been ruled an apparent suicide,” LAPD officer April Harding said in statement Wednesday, “and the coroner’s office is now investigating. The body was found around 6 p.m. Tuesday.”

The vehicle’s license plate read “ABL LV,” while a photo of Abdul hung from the rear view mirror. During her American Idol audition, seen above, Paula Goodspeed said: “I’m a really big fan, and I made life-sized drawings of Paula. I’ve been drawing ever since I was a little kid, and my first drawing was of Paula Abdul.”
The singer chimed in on the horrific incident:
“I am deeply shocked and saddened at what transpired yesterday,” Abdul said in a statement. “My heart and prayers go out to her family.”
